What would be a very nice hairstyle for a 8th grade graduation?

My hair is long and goes down to my waist. I am making a speech at graduation and I want my hair to look nice. : ) I have seen one hairstyle in which the hair on the top of your head is somewhat braided (the hair is separated into different parts) and then the rest is left loose. Do you know which hairstyle this is? If not any suggestions for a nice hairstyle would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. i think that would be a french braid so i think if you want to cut your hair to about your shoulders or a little longer you could curl it but if you want to keep your haiir that long you could just leave it down or put it in a bun with two curls coming down one on each side
2. long loose waves, from a big-barreled curling iron, or pin strait hair, with two pieces in the front pulled back with a barrette.
3. i like twist and curls twist in the front of your Head from ear to ear then twist your hair into a pony tail then curl the rest of the hair then put some really big earrings...
