What hairstyle should a 14 year old get?
I am 14 and looking for a better hairstyle. My hair has had the spike style for awhile (short on side, spikey on top) and I think it's about time I change. I'm planning to change over summer. What type of hairstyle should I get?

- a cool one
- spike style is out. It's all about faux hawks.
- a ton of people have layered hair with side bangs its cute and managable.
- spikey hair and faux hawks are SO middle school. idc if ur in middle school or not, you ALWAYS wanna look older, until ur about 25, then u start trying to look younger. try growing it out a LITTLE bit, and instead of spiking it, tousle it with a little bit of gel to give it a "just got out of bed" look, but not to much. i recommend bed head brands "manipulator" it comes in a small thing for $20, which i dont find worth it, but this shit is HxC. so yea, try something "sophisticated" also, that doesnt make you look stuffy, but fun something like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/86565645@N00/215579374/
- I assume you are a 14 year old guy. A good barber can design a regular taper cut or one of the short pomp styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- to fully suit almost any 14 year old guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. I switch between these styles all the time and with regular haircuts look well groomed while the hair is growing out: short crew cut, medium crew cut, short ivy league, medium ivy league, long ivy league, short regular taper cut, regular taper cut, with an occasional flat top crew cut. I like changing it up-one of the nice things about short hair. regular taper cut: http://h.imagehost.org/0225/2655082-photo_7.jpg http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/5761/tapercutlayerontopsidepto7.jpg This answer explains the basic short cuts. The first two links contained therein are quite informative: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090521173336AA1hONk ivy league(long crew cut): http://h.imagehost.org/0168/Kid_with_a_Coke_Zero_Large.jpg http://a.imagehost.org/0785/Ivy_League_Blonde_Large.jpg Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side if so desired. An ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form the short pomp front or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut. crew cut: http://a.imagehost.org/0671/dusty3-2.jpg http://a.imagehost.org/0205/2513096779_1.jpg http://tbn0.google.com/hosted/images/c?q=fb2612a8009c3631_large http://tbn0.google.com/hosted/images/c?q=5fc8a32674f60b33_large ultra short crew cut: http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/3504/crewcutshortmilitaryrug.jpg [Around 5/8"(#5) at the front hairline, graduated to about 1/4"(#2)at the back of the crown. Back and sides are tapered from around #0A length (1.2mm)down to #000 length(0.5mm) at the ears and nape.] Grooming any of the short pomp styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two. 1) Towel dry hair. 2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax. 3)Transfer wax to palms. 4) Smooth palms over hair. 5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front. Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber or stylist. Haircut names like crew cut and ivy league can be widely interpreted according to region and barber. Good Luck!
