How to get "scene" style hair without it looking ugly?

I know that "being scene" is really old, and I'm not trying to be scene. I just really like the hairstyles and want to be different (I already am and I'm the only kid at my school who dyes their hair) I really like bright hair dye colors and that. But what I am concerned about is the haircut looking like a mullet. That is the ugliest thing in the world. Does anyone know of any cute hairstyles that aren't mullets? Pics please? Thanks so much.

1. All scene haircuts dont look like mullets... mine definitely does not! You need to get it chopped or very layered, with possibly sidebangs.
