How to combine the scene/skater style?

I am (sorda) preppy, i wear some hollister/american eagle/aero and stuff and im sick of it, eveeryone in my school wears thaat stuff, and it just doesn't look good on me. i am tottaly in love with the scene style, but also the skater style? can i possibly be both without looking like a freak? what are some good stores i should check out?
