Where to get wholesale clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry for a retail store?

I want to open a retail store how do i go about getting the best products for the best wholesale price? I want to be able to cut out the middle man...i know there are companies who sell things wholesale but is there a way to buy direct from the brand? I appreciate any answers.
